Twenty one members of the McKinnon Families living on the Isle of Skye, departed from the Bay of Ornsay Skye, on 25 October 1839, on board the 'Henry Porcher', bound for Australia. They left the 'Misty Isle' and its harsh life during the nineteenth century, filled with hope and the promise that this long sea voyage would be the beginning of a better life for the future generations of their families in Australia. After 119 days at sea, they arrived in Sydney, the Capital of the the Colony of New South Wales, on 21 February 1840, to start their new life in Australia.
